Michael Lockwood

Michael Lockwood

Michael grew up and began his soccer career in Canby, Oregon, about 20 miles south of Portland. There, his love for the game began with the encouragement of his father Tony who himself was a UPS soccer alumni.

At Canby High School, Michael was a three year starter at goalkeeper and team captain his Junior and Senior year. Also during that time, he won two state championships and reached two regional semifinals with F.C. Portland and Westside Metros.

Freshman year of college, Michael attended SPU and was back to Seattle United’s own Jimmy Ward. He then transferred to Western Washington University where, in 2007, he recorded the second lowest goals against average in school history. Michael also values his time spent training with Sounders’ goalkeeper coach Tom Dutra and summer spent playing in Denmark and England as vital experiences in improving his skills and knowledge of the goalkeeper position.
