Joelle Vedovatti Named 2016 Roy Liu Memorial Scholarship Recipient

The club is pleased to announce that Joelle Vedovatti, a current G06 Copa player, has been named this year’s recipient of the Roy Liu Memorial Scholarship.  Roy Liu played for SU’s Premier Academy in 2014.  Two years ago, at age 8, Roy succumbed to cancer.  Like Roy, Joelle is bright and works hard in school, is respectful of others and welcoming to new players.

Joelle works extremely hard on the soccer field and is focused in practice. She listens to her coaches and says “thank you” after every session.  Joelle displays great skill and determination, leaving everything she has on the field every training session and game, much like Roy.  She is an outstanding young lady as well.  Well-mannered, positive with her teammates in any situation, and plays with such joy.

Joelle encompasses everything that the Roy Liu Scholarship award stands for, which is a merit-based scholarship.  The scholarship covers the recipient’s club fees for one year.

The club would like to thank the Seattle United family that stepped forward with the idea to create and fund this award in Roy’s honor.

We Are One.
