Seattle United Shows Well Again at Far West Regionals

Congratulations to ALL players and coaches that participated in the 2016 US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals in Boise, Idaho last week, as well as the Region IV Presidents Cup in Colorado the week prior.  Seattle United was well represented on and off the field and we are super proud of all of you!

In all, three teams made it through to the semi-finals of the Region IV Championships:  B03 Copa, B02 Copa, B98 Copa and G02 Copa.  The G98 Tango team made it to the semi-finals of the Presidents Cup.  The B98 Copa team won their second straight Region IV Championship by beating LA Premier of Cal South in the final.

G98 Tango, Head Coach Evan Gaul:  Playing in the Region IV Presidents Cup, the G98 Tango girls made an impressive run all the way to the semi-finals.  On the way, they beat teams from Colorado, Cal South and Montana before losing to FC Warriors from Nevada in the semi-finals.  Great job!

G01 Copa, Head Coach Zahra Lechak:  The 01 girls started the week with two impressive ties, including a 2-2 draw against state cup final opponent Pac NW.  A narrow defeat to Real Colorado in their last group game wasn’t quite enough to see them advance.  A great for this hard working group!

G02 Copa, Head Coach Jason Farrell:  The 02 girls advanced out of group play with a 2-1-0 record with wins over Hawaii and Oregon.  In the quarterfinal, they met Crossfire Premier and won handily, 2-0.  Their run ended in the semi-final, losing to eventual champion So Cal Blues.

B98 Copa, Head Coach Jason Farrell:  The B98 Copa team successfully defended their 2015 Regional Championship.  Over the course of the tournament, the scored 14 goals, conceded 2 and had 5 shutouts.  They will head to Dallas in July to compete for a national championship.

B00 Copa, Head Coach Jimmy McAlister:  While going 1-1-1 in group play for a total of 4 points, the B00 Copa team unfortunately did not advance out of group play.  In their third and final match, the boys beat eventual champion Sporting Santa Clara, 3-0.  A great way to finish!

B01 Copa, Head Coach Ralph Black:  While the B01 Copa team did not advance out of group play, the boys showed their pride and determination in a 5-0 win over Real Colorado in the last group game.  With such a talented group, this was a great showing against a great team.

B02 Copa, Head Coach Alex Chursky:  After going 3-0-0 in group play, the B02 team met up with the San Jose Earthquakes in the quarterfinals.  Regulation and OT was not enough to settle the score, and SU prevailed in penalty kicks.  The boys were defeated on the last kick of the game in the semi-final to end their hopes of getting back to the regional championship game.

B03 Copa, Head Coach Alex Chursky:  The B03 Copa team dispatched teams from Nevada, Alaska and Arizona on their way to the regional quarterfinal, where they eventually lost to Surf Academy from Cal South.  These games were played in Colorado as a part of the Presidents Cup.
